Not gonna lie, I almost didn't buy this Aqueon LED MiniBow kit. I've had my fair share of low-quality aquarium setups and I wasn't convinced that a "smart clean" feature was anything more than marketing jargon. But at $72.99, it was worth giving the 5-gallon mini tank a chance.

I've been using it for nearly a month now with two small platies and a couple of neon tetras. The LED lighting is surprisingly good - it actually creates a neat little glow in my living room once everything's set up. It's not too bright either, which seems to keep the fish calm.



The SmartClean feature, however, didn't quite live up to its name. While the filter does seem to keep the water relatively clean, I still had to do a 25% water change every week - just like any other aquarium. My minor critique here is that while it doesn't require much maintenance, it's not exactly "smart" either.



Overall though, for the price and its size, this Aqueon kit is a solid little setup. It's perfect for a small apartment or if you're new to fishkeeping like I was. Just don't expect it to completely replace manual maintenance.
