Our Experience
After using this for nearly a month, I've got to say, the Pets First dematting tool has been a lifesaver with my Golden Retriever, Max. His long fur was constantly getting tangled and matted, especially around his neck and tail. It was taking forever with just a regular brush, so I decided to give this professional grooming tool a shot. First off, let me tell you, this comb is tough on tangles but gentle on Max's skin. The stainless steel teeth really grab onto the mats and knots, making quick work of them without causing him any discomfort or pulling out his hair unnecessarily. I've even used it on myself (don't judge, long hair has its own set of tangles!) and it worked a treat. The comfort grip handle is another plus.

I tried an electric shaver for cats that had great reviews. Didn't fully work. It removed most of the problem areas but on her worst area it only removed the surface hair and it stopped shaving once it was into the thick of it. 🫤 so I purchased this, and did alittle every day. She has sensitive hips, so I was only able to work through alittle at a time each day. It did work the best. It will remove those tuff knots. I worked at a animal hospital for years. I have used this "Mat Breaker" over the last 30 years and it is my favorite tool for getting tough mats out of both cats and dogs. I highly recommend this for anyone, from the "at home groomer" to the Professionals! I would never be without it!
This product works great if your cat will tolerate it. The first time I tried it it was great. But then my cat must have had a bad experience of some sort. He suddenly gave me a "Hey STOP IT!" soft bite followed by a "Hey DUDE! IMEAN IT!!!" bite. Since then if he even sees the mat remover, HE'S OUTA-HERE!I kept on trying, now it's too late to return it, so look for it on ebay. Great product, but apparently not for all cats.
